About
The Nuclear Unicorn is a professional platform focused on the intersection of nuclear systems, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, and national security.
Background
My professional background began in nuclear operations and complex technical systems, including service in the U.S. Navy submarine community. That experience established an operating perspective centered on procedural discipline, configuration control, systems thinking, risk management, and the consequences of failure in critical environments.
My work has since expanded into cybersecurity engineering, infrastructure security, ICS/OT cybersecurity, and the architecture of resilient technical systems.
Rather than treating cybersecurity as an isolated software problem, I approach it as part of a larger operational system involving people, networks, infrastructure, procedures, trust boundaries, recovery, and mission objectives.
Engineering
My technical work focuses on security architecture, segmented infrastructure, DevSecOps, administrative trust, security monitoring, backup and recovery, and controlled deployment.
A major portion of that work is developed through a security-focused engineering lab used to design, implement, validate, document, and reassess infrastructure controls.
Public engineering material is intentionally sanitized. Detailed operational documentation, credentials, private network information, and internal recovery material remain outside the public publication surface.
Research
My research interests extend beyond implementation-level cybersecurity into nuclear security, deterrence, strategic stability, cyber policy, critical-infrastructure resilience, and national-security decision-making.
I am particularly interested in problems where technical characteristics influence strategic behavior: systems whose design, ambiguity, survivability, automation, or operational constraints change the way states assess risk and escalation.
Method
The work published here distinguishes between implemented systems, validated results, research in progress, planned architecture, and historical work.
Engineering claims are supported by technical evidence where appropriate. Research status is stated explicitly. Planned systems are not presented as deployed systems, and private operational material is not published merely because it exists in the underlying knowledge base.
This site is therefore a curated publication surface rather than a mirror of my working notes, private research, or operational documentation.
